Research
Bayesian network based
diagnosis and control system(1999-2000)
Our ultimate research objective
is to develop control systems for xerographic printers and copiers capable
of generating high quality color prints despite system faults and component
degradation.
A Bayesian Belief Network
(BBN) model of was developed for the xerographic printing process.
It is intended for the diagnosis of system faults and component degradation
and eventually for the reconfiguration of the control system to operate
under degraded conditions.
Here
is the abstract of the paper discribing our intermediate result.
Swimming Machine (1998)
In this project, my responsibilities
were designing the structure, choosing motors with appropriate
power and torque outputs, selecting encoder, decoder and I/O board,
and constructing a close-loop mechatronic system.
There are still intensive
investigation the subject in our laboratory, please refer to Human
powered swimming machine page.
A New Approach to Generate
Fuzzy System (1996)
A complicated multiple input
single output fuzzy system can be obtained from combination of several
single input single output systems by a mathematically approved method
named the Fuzzy System Decomposing and Combining Theorem developed
A new optimisation algorithm, the Float Coding Based Genetic Algorithm
is employed to optimise the parameters of corresponding fuzzy subsystems
arranged in the structures of neural networks.
Here
is the rewrite of the paper published on Proceeding of the IEEE
International Symposium on Control Theory and Application.
PC Aided Signal Processing
On CF-350 FFT Analyser(1994)
This is my undergraduate
thesis. A windows based signal processing software was developed to facilitate
and utilise functionalities of a FFT analyser. It was programmed in C.
GPIB interface was employed in communication between PC and the FFT analyser.

Teaching
Currently, I am teaching
assistant for senior lab ME4231 Motion Control.
This lab is a new and comprehensive
mechatronicslab. The instructors are Prof. Nelson and Prof. Stelson. Students
get hand-on experience of C programming, I/O, encoder/decoder handling,
controller design and implementation. The lab is designed to concentrate
on the control strategy of moving a linear stage with popular applications
in industry, such as automation and robotics. Another focus of the
lab is process control design, students learn to how use programmable
logic controller to implement some interesting processes, such as traffic
lights control, procedures of washing machine, etc.
