Are You Experienced

THE rock and roll album. This one has it all--beautiful soft ballads, incredible experimentation, and straight-up kick-ass rock. One might be inclined to re-title this album as "The Best of Jimi Hendrix, Vol. 1", of course, then we'd have to number every other Hendrix album that ever came out as well.

A while back (4 years?) one of the major guitar magazines had a feature on the top 10 (or was it 20) albums that changed or defined rock and roll guitar for all time. Now, of course I don't remember all the albums listed, but I know Surfing with the Alien, Van Halen's first album, and probably a few Clapton were included. Guess what was the #1, most essential album for R&R guitarists--yep, Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced.

This album has recently been remastered with a few additional tracks. Included are some tracks released as Jimi Hendrix Experience singles which were not included on the American issue of the LP. So, it makes sense to pick up the remastered version to get 51st Anniversary, Red House, Highway Chile, and Stone Free in addition to the original tracks.
