I Don't Live Today
ACL 007
A 2cd package of studio stuff. Origin unknown.
The album has been released in no less than 3 versions / formats:
- As 2CD-set (Limited edition of 1000 numbered copys)
- As 3CD-box set (12x12" / Ltd.edition of 500 copys, featuring the
first 500 of the 1000 mentioned above, plus the CD "Live
at Maple Leaf Gardens '69" (Toronto 3 may 1969), and a set of
10 12x12" photographs by Gered Mankowitz, all lifted from the
book featured in the Ltd.Ed.Box set "The Jimi Hendrix
Experience In 1967")
- As 5LP-box set (12x12" / Ltd.edition of 500 copys, featuring the
"I don't live today" as 3LPs in a gatefold sleeve, plus
"Live at Maple Leaf Gardens '69" as 2LPs in gatefold sleeve.
All records are in coloured vinyl, and the 10 photographs
from the CD-Box set are also included here. Furthermore, the
inner-sleeves for all LPs are reproductions of the inner-sleeve
that came with my original "The Essential Jimi Hendrix Vol.2"-LP
on Reprise.)
The CD-version was released late 1995, while the LP-version was
released early 1996.
The "Idon't live today" 2CD/3LP is a collection of high quality-sound
studio material from 1967 to 1970, previously available on various
bootlegs. Without going into detalis, I can mention albums such as "Studio
Haze","In Flame", "Demos from 1968", "The Sotherby Reels", "Talent &
Feeling Vol.2", "51st Anniversary" an so on. The Live-album is identical to
the "Busted in Toronto"- CD. In other words nothing "new", but the over-all
presentation is very "classy" - specially the LP-Box set.

The Maui-tracks on this album are not mastered too fast.
Keep away from it. Jimi sounds like a little kid.

Isle of Wight '70
The original "Isle of Wight"-album was released in 1970, and featured 6 tracks.
"IOW 70" features 9 tracks, out of which only 2 were included on the
original album. On the other hand "IOW 70" also has 1 track from the "In
the West"- album, which featured 2 Isle of Wight-tracks, none of which were
available on the original "Isle of Wight"-album .....eh... are you with me?
Well, to complicate things even a bit more, there was an Various
Artists-album called "Rare Tracks" released by Polydor in 1976 (2482 274 /
Japan: MPF 1009), which featured yet another IOW-track not available on the
original "Isle of Wight"-album. This track is also included on "IOW 70".
What all this boils down to, is that out of the 9 tracks on "IOW 70", only
5 were previously unreleased (and not 7 as it says on the cover). You will
also be able to find a total of 5 additional IOW-tracks on the albums "Isle
of Wight" & "In the West" - and of course even more if you get some
bootlegs.
There are quite a few albums of this show in circulation, for example
"Wight" (JMH 006/2) that features the Complete show + some studio outtakes.
On most of the bootleg-releases you will also get the complete versions of
the tracks, as many of the officially released tracks from this show are
thoroughly edited.
