Electronic Church Music
Pyramid (PY CD 23)

Good sounding CD of the first show at the Konserthuset, Stockholm on
January 9, 1969. The playing, however, is rather uninspired, but not as
terrible as "Electric Gypsy" makes it out to be. In my opinion Jimi
delivers a fine rendition of Red House and one of the best versions of
Spanish Castle Magic I have ever heard. I don't know why Voodoo Child was
cut out of the set.

1. Intro
2. Killing Floor
3. Spanish Castle Magic
4. Fire
5. Hey Joe
6. Red House
7. Sunshine of Your Love

Rating: B- This is a half decent CD, but for both full shows from that
night in Stockholm in better quality pick up the double CD ON THE KILLING
FLOOR.

The Eternal Fire of Jimi Hendrix
Hallmark SHM 732

Curtis Knight stuff:

This has "You Don't Want Me" and "How Does It Feel?" It has also instrumental
versions of "Hush Now" (4:10) and "Love Love" (8:08). It has also shorter vocal
versions of these tracks.

Now, you may think "Love Love" has been patched together (the quilt
treatment?) to make it so long, but I can hear no repeated sections.
And I actually think this particular track is excellent.

Other tracks are "Simon Says", "Level", "Flashing", "Day Tripper".

QUALITY: Good to Excellent

COMMENTS: A four disc set, this time, again most cuts
available else where. The main reason I bought this was for
the forty-five minute jam, on the first disc, Drivin South
Jam which meanders into Jimi/Jimmy Jam which in a much
edited form is on Nine to the Universe. This jam is from a
Pilot disc I never have been able to find ... I know Pilot
is a label I keep telling you not to buy, but... This box
set also comes with a very nice picture book.
