Title: Measurement of Recovery Factor for a Cylinder in High Speed Flow

Abstract

  • As flow stagnates on a cylinder in cross flow, a portion of the incoming fluid kinetic energy will be transferred into internal energy. This fractional portion is known as the recovery factor. More research is needed to understand the nature of the recovery factor as it relates to various fluid properties and flow geometries. In this study, butt-welded thermocouple probes are used as cylinders in cross flow in order to measure the surface’s average recovery factor.
