The twin cities campus of the University of Minnesota is located on the Mississippi river, just a few miles East of Downtown Minneapolis.

On campus arts and recreational opportunities include:

•   Art exhibits at the Weisman Art Museum, the Goldstein Museum of Design, and the Katherine Nash Gallery
•   Museum exhibits at the Bell Museum of Natural History
•   Exercise facilities at the University Recreation Center
•   Theatre performances at University Theater
  

The Twin Cities area offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities including: 

•     Gurthrie Theater, Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra
•     Minneapolis Intsitute of Arts, Walker Art Center, and the Science Museum
•     professional sports teams, Vikings, Twins, St. Paul Saints
•     miles of hiking and walking trails in the Twin Cities parks
•     swimming, sailing, canoeing, or biking at City Lakes
