Research Major research is in fluid power. The NSF supported Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid is developing the next generation of fluid power that is compact, efficient and effective (see www.ccefp.org). This will lead to large energy savings in current application and create a new generation of un-tethered human scale fluid power devices. The center is demonstrating these capabilities on five test beds: an energy efficient excavator, hydraulic hybrid passenger car, rescue robot, orthosis and fluid powered hand tools. Laboratory |
