Research Research interests include manufacturing and design with composite materials, function of embedded micromechanical sensors in composites, and development of sensors and techniques for real time evaluation of composite materials during manufacture. Whether in process model development or sensor design, the research methodology is founded on physically relevant process models supported by experimental data. Current research projects include: Non-destructive evaluation of composite materials, thermoset filament winding, and two projects with the University of Minnesota Center for Microelectromechanical Systems; study of embedded micromechanical sensors in fiber reinforced composites, and integrated microsensors for aircraft fatigue and failure warning.
