Major research interests include modeling thin films for tribological applications, intelligent sensors, real-time sensing for manufacturing automation, tribology, thin-film deposition processes and coating technology, machining theory, metal forming, and manufacturing automation.
Topics suggested for new research include: analytical modeling of coated solids and thin film coating design; contact mechanics; surface engineering and coating sciences for tribology; micro-sensors and sensor systems for manufacturing and residual life estimation; arc technologies for aerospace component processing; intelligent sensors; sensor systems engineering; analytical and experimental studies of friction, wear, and erosion; tribological characteristics of single and multi-layer films deposited with PVD; and, novel process technologies for aerospace component engineering.
