The objective of this project is to investigate the effects of dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, and air flow on microbial growth on loaded filters. The microbial growth under constant temperature, constant relative humidity, and static air; constant temperature, variable relative humidity, and static air; variable temperature, constant relative humidity, and static air; constant temperature, constant relative humidity, and continuous air flow; and constant temperature, constant relative humidity, and periodic air flow will be studied. General conclusions on the influence of each factor on microbial growth are anticipated.
The experiments were conducted in a wind tunnel (Fig. 1 ) which was built based on ASHRAE Standard 52.2 1999.
