Entering the Wake
Now we see two vortex systems. The one on the right, is the one we've been following. The one on the left is a similar system that forms in the neighboring blade passage. As the vortex system moves beyond the blade trailing edge and into the wake of the blade, we can still distinguish the individual vortices that formed.

All these vortices play a large role in the heat transfer rate to the blade surfaces. Our goal here, is to uderstand these flows, so we can predict where heat loads will be highest and can develop cooling schemes to protect the blade surfaces.
