| Creating Text on a Drawing |
| Text is easily placed anywhere on a drawing. One place where text is often needed is in the title block of a drawing. Pro Engineer offers pre made formats (See the Pro E hint Creating a Drawing from a Template). In these formats are permanent blank title blocks. You may place text relevant to your drawing in the cells of the title block, or anywhere else in the drawing by following the procedure outlined below. Getting Started When
in the Drawing mode, select Create from
the Detail menu. From there, select Note.
A stack of menus should appear giving you formatting options, such as
attaching leaders to your note, or making the note read horizontally or
vertically. If you simply select Make Note, the default
will give you a horizontal note with no leader attached. In the message window you will be asked to select the
starting location for your note. Select the desired location by clicking
the left hand mouse button when the pointer is located over the desired
location. A separate character window should open containing buttons on
which are printed the alphabet and other special characters. There are two ways to enter text. You may either type
your text from the keyboard, or you may select text from the buttons in
the character window. Clicking on one of the buttons in the character
window will insert it into your note. You may divide your note into multiple
lines simply by using the Return/Enter key on the keyboard.
As you enter text by either of these means, you will see it appear in
the text line of the message window. After you have completed entering your note, you must
indicate that you have finished. This is done simply by hitting Return/Enter
twice in a row. After you have created a note you may wish to move it. For example, if you have created a note to go inside one of the cells located in the title block, you may wish to adjust its location. From the Detail menu select Move. Select the note you wish to move with the left hand mouse button. The note will turn into an outline of the text it contains. You can then move the note anywhere you wish. To anchor it to another location, click the left hand mouse button again. Wherever your pointer is located when you click the left hand button will be the new location for the note. Changing Text/Note Size From the main drawing menu choose Detail. Next choose Modify from the detail menu. From the Modify Drawing menu choose Text. After choosing text from the Modify Drawing menu, choose Text Height or Text Width. After making a choice you will be prompted to select Texts to Modify. You can either use the query select or just click on the text. After making a selection, select Done Sel from the Get Select menu. Next you will be prompted to "Enter new value for text height/width". The number in the brackets is the value at which the text is currently constrained. Choose a value that corresponds to how you want to change the text. Then hit enter. |
