  • Go through the "An Introduction to Pro/Engineer" tutorial by Tom Chase. This is available in the Williamson bookstore for a moderate price, and is an excellent introduction to the world of Pro/E. Follow each step in Pro/E as you go, as the tutorial is designed to teach you by doing.

  • Do the following exercise: (taken from an ME1010 assignment) Complete the following exercises using Pro/Engineer. The purpose of this problem is to have you become comfortable with creating all kinds of shapes using Pro/E. This will be useful for making Pro/E drawings of your own designs.
    1. Create a cylinder of radius 20 cm and length 50 cm using two methods, the first by extruding a circle and the second by revolving a rectangle.
    2. Using one of the two cylinders you made above, construct a tube with uniform wall thickness of 2 cm.
    3. Make a quadrilateral pyramid of your own dimensions. (Hint: Start with a box, then cut off the sides. You will need two separate cuts.)
    4. Make a cone of your own dimensions. (Hint: Revolve a triangle.) Then, make the cone hollow and cut off the top at a 45 degree angle.
    5. Make a sphere of your own dimensions. Then, remove a piece of the sphere as if you were removing a section from an orange.

  • Work through the "Inside Pro/E" book, also found in the Williamson bookstore. This is an excellent primer on more advanced Pro/E techniques.

  • Use this site for hints and tips. Email Dr. Will Durfee if you have any suggestions for more hints.

  • Use the Pro/E online help which can be pulled out of Pro/E Help menu. This is an extremely extensive document.
