How to Print the Part/Assembly with the New Background Color

A different background color is very useful for displaying the part/assembly to its best advantage.
  1. Create or retrieve the colored drawing with the new background color.
  2. Orient the part/assembly for the best view.
  3. Select another unix shell and, at the prompt, type xv.
  4. Click the third button in the new window. This should call up another window with several options, select Grab.
  5. You will have the choice to auto-grab or to grab the window manually.
  6. Select Grab and place the cursor on the window you want to print.

Note: Make sure there are no other windows or menus inside the window you are grabbing.
  7. Click the left mouse button once. You will see the border of the window flash. The captured image will now be displayed.
  8. Go to the first menu where you selected Grab. Select Save, choose Postscript and give it a filename with the extension ps (i.e. photo.ps).
  9. A menu will appear which allows you to choose the paper size, landscape or portrait format, and to center the captured image. After selecting the appropriate options, you are ready to print.
  10. Print by using the same means as you did for a colored print (i.e. lpr -Pme308t photo.ps). Note: Always check the image by using the ghostview command before printing the final product.
