I rarely use the "Dimension" command to dimension
my parts, but rather the "AutoDim" because it's quite a bit
faster and will notify you of lines/other shapes that may not be aligned.
It will often ask if you want to align a line/other shape if you had forgotten
to do it prior to enter the "AutoDim" menu. The basics of it
are to align the sketch, click on "AutoDim", select two reference
planes for the sketch (i.e., if your sketch plane is DTM3, select DTM2
and DTM1 as the reference planes), click on "Done Sel" from
the "Get Select" menu and the part will be dimensioned unless,
as stated above, there is further alignment required. The dimensions can
then be modified as desired. It removes the trouble of cycling through
query select for each line that is to be used to create a dimension, and
it will not over-dimension the sketch.
