When printing drawings using the printbw600 [filename] command, I began to notice that the printer has a tendency to enlarge the drawings slightly and then crop them. This often produced strange lines leading nowhere and omitted the border.

One possible solution to this problem is as follows:

  1. When your drawing is complete and ready to be converted to a plot file, select Main -> View
  2. Essentially you want to shrink the size of your drawing slightly and make sure it is centered, select Pan-Zoom -> Zoom Out
  3. Your drawing is now small and needs to be enlarged to slightly less than its original size, Zoom-In is already selected so move the mouse to the upper left hand corner of your reduced drawing and pull a rectangle to the diagonal corner. Make sure the border around the drawing is even all the way around so the print will be centered.
  4. Select Main View -> Done-Return
  5. Select Drawing -> Interface to resume the normal plot file generation sequence.
  6. Finally when printing your plot file from the Unix Shell use the lpr -Pme308b [filename] command instead of printbw600 [filename] for drawings with borders.
