A balloon is a feature that is added to a drawing
that serves as a label. Balloons are frequently used to show part numbers
in assembly drawings. To create a balloon, follow these steps:
- Create or retrieve a drawing.
- From the Detail menu, select the
following items: Create/Balloon.
- Set the options that you prefer. The leader is the
line that connects the balloon to the drawing. Enter
lets you type in the text of the balloon, while File
lets you get the text from a file. If you would prefer to create a leader
in which the text is vertical, select the Vertical
option.
- Click the Make Note option.
- If you selected a leader, you will see the following
menu:
On Entity - This option ties the leader to an entity
Free Point - This option lets the end of the leader
hang in space
Midpoint - Ties the leader to the midpoint of a line
Intersect - Ties the leader to the intersection of
two lines
The rest of the items in the menu are concerned with what kind of marker
is used at the end of the leader. Choose a marker.
- Click on the drawing where you want the leader to
touch the part.
- If you selected the On Entity option,
click where you want the leader to appear. If you selected the 'Free
Point' option, go to the next step.
- Click with the middle mouse button, or choose the
Done Sel item to finish choosing the location of the
leader.
- Type the note you want to appear in the balloon,
and press Enter when you are done. You can enter multiple notes by typing
enter between each one; they will appear in adjacent balloons. Press
Enter on a blank line when you are finished.
- Your note should now appear.
To delete a note, use the Delete option
from the Detail menu. It may be easier to use the
Pick Many/Pick Box menu item. Select it, then drag a box around
the balloon with the left mouse button. Click the middle mouse button
or Done Sel when you are finished.
