Teaching Assistantships are financial aid academic appointments reserved for full-time graduate students. Full-time graduate students interested in becoming a TA must fill out an application form for submission. A new application must be completed every semester (no applications are kept from previous semesters). Please note that all TAs, regardless of experience, must be available to work one week before and one week after the course term. In addition, all Fall and Spring TAs must attend a workshop held during the first week of the appointment.

The normal TA appointment is at the 25% level (50% is normally the maximum appointment level combining TA, RA, and fellowship support), but there are occasional exceptions for some courses. PhD students are given preference for TA positions. It is possible to hold simultaneous TA and RA positions within any academic semester, and very common for PhD students to do so.
