The ME department offers summer
and fall short courses for graduate students and faculty. The purpose
of these courses is to help newer graduate students and faculty
learn the software packages commonly used in the department.
Most often, graduate students learn how to use
different software packages on their own. Each year, another set
of new graduate students has to go through the painful learning
process. Sometimes a more experienced graduate student will help
the newer students in his/her research group to learn these packages.
These short courses are meant to offer this opportunity to all graduate
students and faculty in the department. We hope that by offering
the summer short courses, we will help new graduate students learn
the software tools a little more quickly.
Best of all, these courses are free to ME
graduate students and faculty. The courses are taught by ME graduate
students experienced in the particular software. The schedule for
Fall 2006 is not yet decided:
