Enclosures for electonics( ) Enclosures are the box you put your electronics in. Size the box large to include the circuit board and to leave room for the back side of the connectors and to leave sufficient height for panel mount connectors and for anything that sticks up off the board. For the cheapest and simplest solution, use a 2-part sheet aluminum "Mini-Box" from Bud Enclosures. These have 2 parts that slide together. Mount everything to the outside part, including mounting the PC board upside down on the roof. Sample Digi-Key part number is 377-1087-ND which will point you to the catalog page to see other sizes in this series. For a somewhat classier look, choose a "Series 1594" enclosure from Hammond Manufacturing. This is a gray, ABS plastic box with a lid. Sample Digi-Key part number is HM226-ND. See the Digi-Key catalog page for other sizes in this series. Other options are deep-drawn aluminum cases (Hammond Manufacturing) and fancier instrument cases (can get pricey).
