Starting Pro/E in ITLABS

Pro/E is loaded onto the Windows and Unix machines in ITLABS. Here's how to start it up. For ME2011, use versions Wildfire 1.0 or Wildfire 2.0 (Note that startup procedures vary slightly from year to year. What's listed here is how things were working in Fall 2004.)

Windows machines

Login using your ITLABS username and password. Then, access Pro/E through the start button.

Start > Programs > PTC ProE Wildfire > Pro ENGINEER > Pro ENGINEER

To run ghostview on Windows: Start > Programs > Ghostscript > GSview4.0

Dell Linux machines

% module load mcad/proe/03wildfire
% proewildfire &

Note: Wildfire runs particularly well on these machines.

To run ghostview on Linux: %gv

Sun Unix machines

Login using your ITLABS username and password. One or two terminal windows will start up with the '%' character for the prompt. In Unix you enter commands at the prompt, followed by a carriage return. To logout, left click anywhere in the background away from windows, then select Exit FWM

% module load mcad/proe/03wildfire
% proe &

Note: On the Sun stations, the graphics for Wildfire run slow, however, Pro/E runs very quickly on the Sun Unix machines in EE/CS 4-250.

All machines

It can take quite a while to get to the startup screen for Pro/E. For Wildfire, it will be 60 s or longer with no apparent activity on the computer, so be patient.
