[Requirements for acceptance] [Application instructions]
Requirements for acceptance into the Engineering Co-op Program
Upper Division Status
Students must be in Upper Division in order to begin the Co-op work assignments. They may interview and accept a co-op position, but they may not register for 3041, the first Industrial Assignment, or begin work as a Co-op, until they are officially accepted into Upper Division.
Students are encouraged to apply to the Co-op Program late in their Sophomore year. They should be close to being accepted into Upper Division, which requires a 2.5 grade point average.
Students may apply during their Junior year, but will probably need to extend their graduation date to accommodate the Co-op sequence.
Lower Division Courses Required
Before entering the Co-op, lower division basic courses should be completed. Students missing some of these courses should make them up as soon as possible. All the required courses are unique to each major. Please check the application in your major for the courses you are required to complete.
Comments
Check with your college office for the required upper division courses.
Students are urged to take as many prerequisites as possible to satisfy the course requirements for the third and fourth year curriculum. Students planning to transfer to the University of Minnesota should refer to the IT Bulletin for current requirements. Bulletins are available from Admissions and Records, 240 Williamson Hall, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN 55455. Changes are made occasionally in the curriculum. Therefore, it is advisable to inquire about any changes upon arrival at the University.
